Am I nuts to not by an either sex elk tag for CO OTC?

I grew up in that unit. We just sold our cabin a few years ago. Popularity comes
and goes. It's a steep unit from a NF/wilderness perspective. Lots of first times don't make it far in.

Well we're first timers but will have horses and guides with a camp on private land. Not expecting much from a harvest stand point but looking forward to a week in CO.

You would be surprised. If you are hunting the south end, it's actually a pretty historic area... you most like won't be to far from where the last grizz was killed.
