You will have a hard time drilling this hardened ball. I have been successful by unjamming the ball, and using a magnet (piece of equipment it was on weighed 10k lbs so couldn't turn it upside down and shake out) to remove the ball. Destructive method would be to use a cutoff wheel between the split on the ring to cut the bolt (carefully), and replace the whole ring. And yes, get a set of torx drivers

If all else fails, brake out the dramel cut off the ring, and buy new ring mounts.

You might could use snap ring pliers to fit it in around the broke off head. And maybe remove the screw that way.

Yup, that is the first thing I saw. He tried to use an allen wrench on a torx head screw.

Grind the head so you take off the mount then grab with Pliers

Note: If your Allen wrenches have a ball on the end, GRIND IT OFF!!!

Not. I use them on a daily basis. Just don't use the ball end to break it loose. That ball is handy.

Yep. You ain’t supposed to try to use the ball end to break something loose or crank something down with them.

I ended up getting a tiny screw driver to dislodge it from the bind it was in and then was able to shake it out.
