Default Favorite Summer Vacation?

My wife and I are long overdue for a good vacation. What has been your favorite summer vacation spot? I'd like opinions in the US or outside, family vacation spots or just couples. We have 2 boys under 6 years old.

Thanks

My favorites are always in the Rockies, from BC to NM. You can never go wrong being in the mountains during a long hot summer!

And my favorites when I was a kid, were camping in the National Parks of the Rockies.

By far our best family trip was to St. Lucia. It's an amazing place. I really enjoyed yellow stone as well but your little kids might not want to be in the car riding around so much.

Hawaii is great (Maui), but we also go to Watercolor/Seaside (30A in general) at least once or twice a year and love it.

Grand cayman is a beautiful place to go if you love the beach. My personal favorite has always been my deer lease

2 best and its not close. Kauai - much more laid back than other parts of Hawaii. Alaska - rent an SUV and see as much as you can. That place is incredible

Take the family salmon fishing in Alaska. Sure is a nice way to beat the Texas heat.

You got a ball park budget in mind? Lots of great suggestions that I agree with from the Frio river to St. Lucia but there is a huge price difference here.

Tour the Southwest! My wife and I and are finishing up a round trip. Stops included carlsbad caverns in new mexico, grand canyon (north and south rim), antelope canyon, lake Powell in northern arizona, navajo reservation and 4 corners. Rented a car and took our time visiting everything.

Good question...

Here are my recommendations...

Costa Rica is fantastic. I would recommend Tulemar in Manuel Antonio. They have an awesome private beach and you can walk to dinner every night.

The Big Island of Hawaii...
Its an incredible place. The issues with the eruption right now are isolated to a few areas. Don't let it sway you. Its one of the coolest islands in the world. It might be the only place I've been to multiple times. So much to do and you can have 85F beaches or 30F mountains within 2 hrs drive.

Alaska... If you want to get adventurous, rent a cabin in Alaska and spend a week there. I stayed at Lake Eva cabin on Sitka Island for a week and we flew in breakfast/lunch but we caught dinner every night. It was fantastic and really affordable.
https://www.recreation.gov/camping/l...O&parkId=71862

My only warning on the Lake Eva is there are lots of bears depending on the timing of the trip. I was there in the fall so the bears were on the river because of the Salmon run.

Lots of great spots here in Wyoming.
Yellowstone is always cool just for the wildlife, any place in a cabin in the mountains is also great.
You can rent forest service cabins for pretty cheap within the NF. Some are very rustic , some not so much. Cody is also a neat town. The drive from Laramie to Saratoga , Wy is beautiful over Highway 130, the Snowy Range. Saratoga is a great little western town, hot spring pool and a nice hotel with hot springs pools also. Platte River right through town.

Either the mountains in Colorado/Wyoming/Montana or the beach in Florida, Cozumel, or somewhere in the Caribbean. Have done Hawaii, Costa Rica, St Croix, and Barbados as well, you can't go wrong with any of them.

my kids absolute favorite vacation is Isla Mujeres. They have been 3 times over the past 8 years. Great little island, use golf carts for our transportation, The main beach is in the top 10 beach's in the world. lots of great little restaurants. Very safe, I never worry about the wife and kids running around the island while I go fishing.

The River River has to be my favorite 3-4 day weekend get away by far, but for a weeklong venture or more send me to the mountains. SW Colorado is one of most visited, but renting a cabin, riding trails, and fly fishing is some excellent relaxation.

RMNP. Whether camping or staying in a cabin it's always great. Beautiful scenery, horseback riding. Roof top rodeo around the 4th of July. Great weather and lots of animals. Shopping and a trout farm in town. ( let the kids catch dinner one night).

For a guys vacation here it is. Macgruder Ranger Cabin in the Bitterroot Wilderness. It’s at the intersection of the Selway and Clearwater Rivers, with numberous streams running into each. The Bitterroot River is just in Montana side of the pass as well. Excellent trout fishing, gorgeous scenery, no fancy amenities, and pure solitude. A spend about 8-9 days up here each year.

https://www.recreation.gov/camping/m...O&parkId=75162

$50 per night, a gas stove, gas lamps, gas water heater, and running water. No electricity, no internet, and nothing to bother you.
