Had a rough good at the San Antonio Livestock Show Youth Rodeo. She ran good patterns but held her horse back and didn't place. Good experience for her though as she has never competed in a rodeo of this magnitude.

Great experience no matter the outcome. We have got to get my daughter and her new horse ready for the Denton County Youth Fair that will be happening in about 6 weeks

The experience is what I wanted her to get out of it. She has another 4H point show Saturday to get her closer to regionals and then the barrel season kicks into full swing the following weekend. I think I need a week night job to pay for diesel.......

Riley knocked over a Barrel in the 2nd round of the open to probably win the open and maybe the overall average. Learning experience.

Shannon said she had a rough run. I just need to get my little one to kick it in high gear. That little pony is quick and can place if she will speed it up.

she has already told me that she is going to win the NFR and buy me a ranch Which translates into "If I quit paying for rodeo I could probably get a ranch much sooner" LOL

[QUOTE=Arrowed C;13163229]About 3 years ago my youngest son told me he was not playing anymore baseball like his older brothers did. We were at the ranch hunting when he stated he had something to tell me. He said "Dad I do not want to play baseball anymore, deep in my heart I am a Cowboy and want to rodeo" as he ponded his chest. I leaned over looked him straight in the eye and said son do what you want, I will support you. We have not looked back as he follows the footsteps of his Papa and Great Uncles. We are having a blast.

Thats awesome!

Don't have any grand kids so following one of my best friend's Granddaughter and a good buddy's daughter. She's 10 and made it in the final 30 of those trying to qualify for the American in barrel chasing. Best of luck to London Gorham!

London won last night so she's still in the hunt. I think it would be ironic to see London and Hailey Kinsel run one and two or two and one as they are both from Cotulla.

She did great even though she didn't get back in the short round. She is gonna be tough to beat for years to come.

My daughter had some good runs Saturday. She took 1st in all 3 speed events at the District 4H point show. One more to go then on to regionals. Season is getting ready to get extremely busy running up and down the road.

My daughter won all 3 speed events again at the last Hays county 4H point show Saturday, which will put her at high point for the series end. Waiting on the awards banquet to see what she will win. She has now qualified for regionals in June.

We really have not discussed it yet. She has only ridden in one 4h horse show event. I havenít even looked up all the ends and outs of the state deal yet. The 4h events up here are hard to find sometimes

We are on a search right now for another horse.

The mare I bought her 2 years ago is really not working out with her right now

Riley had a Run for Vegas race in Marshall. She finished 5th out 68 or 70 girls in her age group. 2/10's of second separated them. Only the top 3 got an invitation. We will try again.

We went to a little play day on Sunday afternoon and my daughter got 2nd place in barrels, bow tie and flying w patterns. We are hitting a junior rodeo Friday and Saturday night down in Mullin.

Still looking for another horse

trying to upload a video from Sunday, but I think it is too big even for YouTube. Lol

Sarah picked up 3 1sts, 2 2nds, and 6th at a playday in Bulverde keeping her highpoint for the series. One more to go next month.

She has 2 playdays this weekend in Blanco.

Dangit. She was close. She will get to Vegas, I got this feeling last year started a fire in her.

What are you looking for in a horse? And do you just need a barrel horse or one that can do all events? I come across youth horses quit a bit.

I would look at anything as far as horse is concerned. A play day horse that knows events or just a barrel horse. I just donít want anything that is crazy in the head.

That really depends on the details of the horse. I have been looking at horses anywhere from $3500-$10000

She is riding a horse right now that I spent $1500 on

I would say she is. I have been looking at 2D/3D barrel horses. I am not sure if she is ready for a 1D horse now but maybe after this summer. She has never had a true barrel horse. Every horse she has ever had as been a ranch style horse. Most have never even seen barrels until she got on them and worked with them on the different patterns.

The horse she won the speed events on at the Denton County Youth Fair was a team roping horse before we got him. She runs 20-22 second barrels on him but she wants to go faster.

The mare we bought her two years ago they just do not get along so we have to find her something else.

I am really torn with what we need to do. I guess we will need to make the decision if we are going to get more serious in this rodeo stuff or not

My ex/we are looking for Riley another horse now . If we find one it will be her A horse and LuLu will be the backup. That means blazer will be bumped.. He's a solid upper 1d and 2d. He's older but he is bomb proof

I wish I could post pics from my phone. My middle son loves to rope and ride but quit rodeoing. Now my youngest son has takin a liking to chute dogging and just finished the Ctyra season in 3rd place over all and won the finals. I think we are going to get him on bulls next season.

Before you put him on Bulls please enroll him in a qualified school.. Gary Leffew would be my first choice. Ted Nuce my second. I can't emphasize the importance enough... There are a lot of bull riding schools out there put on by great bullriders. Just be because they rode great doesn't mean they can teach and coach. Those above are great coaches to kids and aspiring young kids

But his he a great coach? Being a PRCA rider or former rider doesn't make you a great coach. I know lot of guys who rode great but couldn't tell you how they did it

Holler at me when you decide to sell Blazer. I may know a little blonde girl that might be interested in purchasing that horse.
