The Eternal Flame - Keep it Burning
We are visiting our son and family near Ennis, Montana for Christmas. It sounded like a great idea to get a non resident license and go for ducks this am. My son, our daughter’s boyfriend and I on the Madison river.
Builds memories, I thought.
This was the local weather when we were having breakfast. That is a minus sign.
It was too cold to take pictures. Flesh freezes. The river backed up and rose 1.5 feet in the small channel to the island. Challenging to getting out.
I shot the one bird, hen mallard. My first kill in Montana.
Here’s when I got back to the truck. Waterfowl hunting is an addiction. Warmed up, I want to go back and get Green!

Little goose hunting (although more ducks killed then geese...) yesterday with Tiny's taxiderm, Billsunlimited and Lonnie from our WORP tour hunt group. Besides a flat tire at 4am, I even managed a silly Ol' Greenhead. First mallard I've ever seen too boot!
In Navasota today hauling 4 tons of feed home

Duck hunt like you never seen
They up for anything you wanta
Live on steak and refried beans
They cover half of southern Texas
Why they act the way they do
When them boys meet me in O'Connor
They think they own O'Connor too![/ i]
Happy New Year Err'body!

Crazy- we have mallards all over in pacific flyway.
And speckle belly geese- my daughter went goose hunting with her boyfriend yesterday and her lab had his first real opportunity to retrieve.
He looks like they made him work!
BTW- I avoided asking how many she shot

Well we had a minor set back in the fleet
Tried looking for this guy to fix it quick but he must be on the big job
but it's all good now, dang govt. buildings need to open so I can get plates. Tex-all did good except for the barely noticeable different size tires (185 & 175's). Luckily my old trailer has 175's so the two 185's went on it and the three 175's went too the new rig.
