Killed a dove last year with the longbow. First shot of the day. Missed about the next 30. It was my 4th day in a row to hunt that way with no success.

157 yards freehand shot on an axis doe, not broadside, facing directly towards me. It was more luck than skill, no doubt.

I consider myself to be a pretty okay shot if I have a rest but that one was 90% luck

With bow, I’ve shot a couple deer and a hog at 40 yards. With a rifle, a deer at 315 yards.

Threw a rock at a rabbit last December at work, no clue how but it killed it. I thought taking 4 teal with one shot was cool until I realized how quick the hunt was going to be lol

326 yards on a nice buck with a 260 rem.
656 yards on a huge Tom 260 rem.
Shot a 120-150 pound hog that was full sprint running free hand at about 275-300 yards with the same 260rem bullet hit her right threw the front elbows.

35 years ago when I was a rifle hunter, was in Meeker Colorado hunting mule deer. Jumped a 6 point at about 50 yards and he took off in that crazy bounding run they do. **** him right in the back of the head. Short tracking job. NO, I did not try to do that. Just a bad shooter that got lucky.

The best ? Probably between these three.

A feral house cat at 109 steps with a Model 53 S&W .22 Jet........at night ! Just aimed at the eyes, the bullet went through its teeth.

A crow at a little over 200 yards with a Big Bore 94 in .375 Win. Peep sight.

Head shot on a rabbit at over 40 yards with a High Standard Target in .22 short

All these were with much younger eyes.

About 50 yards with a .22 Browning bolt action. Shot a bull frog dead center between the eyes as he lay in a cow track at the edge of a tank. He never flinched, never knew what hit him. I mean perfectly between the eyes.

212 yr free hand on an axis doe no rest aiming behind the shoulder and clipped her in the neck right below her head, all luck

90 yard shot on a big aoudad that was running through the brush he paused for a second when I went to stick my gun out the blind window in a hurry and I slammed the barrel into the blind, was loud enough for him to stop for a second I literally had a 6 inch window in between the trees and dropped him on the spot I was very lucky

Had a 8pt trot right under me and disappear into brush. I expected him to show up at this 10 0clock opening, got the gun out the blind, waited behind scope... and as soon as he popped into the opening. I pulled the trigger and he went down like a sack of taters. Quartering away while trotting.

I was shooting my bow across a pond at a large boar. When I shot, a 30 lb. catfish jumped outta the water and caught the business end of my arrow right thru the heart. Arrow passed thru but was deflected and hit a large dead limb over that boar. Limb fell and killed that boar right where he stood.

Growing up around deer camp my daddy was known to take a deer every few years at a decent long range. I say decent....probably 300-350+ yds I guess. He was a prankster and jokester of sorts every chance he got...especially if the audience was my younger cousins.

On one such occasion, he was hunting out of a tower stand one year overlooking a wheat field and took a buck on the far side of the field. If I had to guess, Iíd say it was probably 350 or so yards.

Anyway, that night after dinner we were all enjoying the campfire when one of my younger cousins asked my daddy ďSo uncle Tom, just how far was that shot?Ē Without skipping a beat my daddy says ďWell son, let me tell ya....I squeezed the trigger, climbed down out of the stand and lit a cigarette before the bullet ever got there!Ē

Texas Tom Gray was a character

510 yard shot on a doe with my .270.
Hit her in the heart.
Honestly, it was luck.
Iím a good shot but I never practiced at that range. I guessed the drop and squeezed the trigger.
It was a cold calm morning so I wasnít worried about wind drift.

25 years ago sitting in a stand with TBH’s own Sac trying to kill a doe so Sac’s dad and I can make all our sausage at one time. We are in a stand on a ranch road where we can see a long way that the rancher hand corned every day for our friend that hunted there. No deer until right at sunset and they walk out in the west ROW. I put 300 mag out the window and can’t see a thing due to the sun. I lean back in my seat so the stand can shade my scope and shot her free hand in the head at 207 yards. Most incredible and lucky shot I ever made.

Africa 325 yds rifle kudu running up hill after first shot. Guide said shoot and I line up the Texas heart shot and bam drt. Turns out I hit him in the back of the head... and first shot would have done him in as well. 100% luck. Also hit a prairie dog at 867 yds... also 100% luck, hell rather lucky then good. Kudu is in the avatar pic.

I have two. I killed a doe at 428 yards with a 25-06 when I was 16.

I shot this doe right in da face at 150 yards! She was smart and would barley poke her head out of the woods and look to see if I was in the blind. This day I was ready for her

Probably my best shot was the first buck I killed with my bow. He was 45 yards away on a steep downhill angle. At the time I didnít have a rangefinder and knew I needed to shoot as if he was closer. I put my 20yd pin behind the shoulder and let it fly. Hit him right where I wanted and he only ran 20yds.

I would have to say the shots I feel were the craziest and luckiest I’ve ever had was about 12 years ago with my .40 cal bunker buster blowgun, through the eyes on a squirrel at 14 yards or shooting the tail off a cottontail at about 70 yards with a henry repeater in 44-40. Still have that little tail as a trophy.

I stuck a doe right behind the jaw, my broad-head cut her artery and she bled out and collapsed without ever taking a step. It was pure dumb luck, the arrow should have gone about four inches over her shoulders, but she had her head turned back, looking behind her.
Butchering her was so nice and clean, it made me want to train to be able to take that shot on purpose, not there yet though.
