Default Opening day all day sits

Is anyone planning to sit all day next Saturday? I have a variety of bucks coming in a variety of times. No real pattern except a few that are in every evening. So Iím still thinking about an all day sit.

I won't be hunting on opening weekend but usually for me, earlier in the season I don't do all day. I have hard enough time doing it when it is cool in November, much less warm/hot in October.

My shooter beds in the area I will be setup in. He goes by the camera/hand corn at 7-8:30am, 10-11am and 1-2pm. He has been by in the evening 1-2 times in the last month. If I don't have him down I plan to sit until 12-1pm and hunt a different trail that evening that he occasionally comes through 30 minutes before dark. I do plan to be in the tree around 5-5:30 that morning to let things quiet down.

Based on the forecast I took Mon and Tues off for a 4 day hunt wknd.

Very, very few deer have been killed by a hunter from his camp. If you aren't out hunting you might as allstate home and watch football or whatever. If you are going hunting ,get your tail out where the deer are and wait....sooner or later one will come. If you are there, you will have a shot. If you aren't there,,, oh well......

Can't say I agree with this. I'm not a big fan of really long sits, unless the deer are moving. I'll do it during the rut down south, but I'm not just going to sit in the stand all day long and cross my fingers. There are situations where it makes sense based off what your TC tells you, but if you don't have a good reason to sit all day I'd avoid it. Its really hard not to get bored, restless, hungry, hot, or have to go to the bathroom on a long sit. The more moving around and making noise you make in the stand the more likely to blow a deer out of there. I get in quietly, sit quietly, and once things calm down and it starts getting hot slip out and piddle at camp until that afternoon.

I cant do an all day sit in the tree. Couple of hours max. Deer blind is different, I can stay in there all day and night. Have a grill, fans, etc with comfy chairs.

I'll sit all day if I have to. Fortunately, given the patterns, I should be in the blind about an hour before sunrise and out of it by 9:45 am at the latest.

All it took was me doing one very long sit to realize I don't like doing that especially if it is warm LOL. My one time extra long sit resulted in a shot that was taken during my normal hunting hours and I missed .

Rut yes! Early season til about 1-2:00. I don't like late evening bow hunts. It's too difficult to find them in the dark for me.

Probably one of the best a**whuppings I got as a teenager was the Saturday morning in November I decided to sleep in instead of go hunting. About 9am I rolled over in bed, looked out the window, and saw a nice buck out in the pasture, maybe 150 yards out. I opened the window, popped the screen off, laid across my bed with my .270, and let Ďer rip! Nailed the buck, couldnít hear a **** thing for several hours, and scared the rest of the house so bad I thought they were all gonna take turns killing me, reviving me, and killing me again!

Growing up in Tennessee all we did were all day hunts. Around noon, either my dad or I would walk to each other and have lunch while looking over our hunting area. I started hunting at 9 and by 12 I was responsible for finding my own tree and area to hunt within 100yds of dad. By 15 I was totally on my own with just a walkie to communicate with. We would still meet up for lunch in the woods, but all day in the woods was the norm. Daylight til dark.

Depends on the weather. The bucks in my area start looking for love around the 15th-20th of October. Opening weekend I try to get a lone doe without a young one with her.

I don't even know if I'm going to hunt opening weekend, no way I'll sit all day. I like to come back to camp, eat breakfast, have some cold ones and watch a little college football before the evening hunt. That's deer camp. I ain't that mad at them. Lol

Considering that all we are seeing on camera is the same small handful of does showing up early and late I will not do an extended sit until the rut. There are football games to watch mid day

Heck no. I don’t see myself ever sitting all day unless I’m constantly seeing deer then maybe. Shooting deer from camp is my favorite way to kill them; killed my first deer standing in the recliner and had the rifle out the window next to the ac unit

Shoot if I hunt at the cabin, and if I’m still there 45 minutes after daylight, it was a long sit. At the deer lease if I’m not seeing anything I’m ready to get out at 845

This time of year our movement(and I suspect most others) is going to revolve around early morning/evening. To sit the 10 hours in between for me isnt an issue of being bored, its that I do more harm than good if Iím sitting there generating scent all day long. Sometimes the best thing you can do is NOT hunt if youíve got a specific buck and conditions arenít right.
