Prevent defense prevents you from winning. Year after year it keeps happening and yet teams still keep doing it.

Can anyone explain to me why the Texans touched the player down with just a few seconds on the clock? Or is he automatically down and Iím just seeing red right now and now computing correctly?

Dumbest call of the game was playing prevent 20 yards back when Brees needed 7-8 yards. Out coached again.

He gave himself up so the clock stops.

Edit: with a timeout

He was calling timeout as soon as he went down. Touching him was irrelevant.

BOB doesn't coach the D, get mad at Crennel if you want to be angry at someone. Your anger is justified IMO

Okay...makes sense, I just wondered why the Texan player rushed to down him

Itís the whole mindset as far as I can tell. Just pathetic for Watson to get the daylights beat out of him over and over and they call garbage like this game

1st game of the year, so I won't panic. O-line still giving up too many sacks, but outside of that it was a decent showing. You can't blame any defense for giving up 362 yards to Drew Brees. I mean, who hasn't he carved up? We have 15 more games and I don't hate our team as much as I thought I might.

Agree that prevent defense is what you play when you're trying to prevent a long TD. He needed less than 10 yards and we took 2 defenders out of the play. Dumb.

I mean they had to have a timeout to stop the clock but itís over when the receiver gives himself up and calls timeout.

Oline looked much better than they showed in preseason against Dallas.

True, but he still got sacked 6 or 7 times and got hit 40 brazillion times. That's better than the preseason, but not much. No QB can take a beating week in and week out. He's a very good QB and I'd like to have him for 15 years or so.

Despite the loss and crap defensive calling at the end, good game. I honestly expected to get stomped. They had a very real chance to win it. And Deshaun showed how great he is that last drive.

I was actually impressed with the Texans. The last play before the winning kick is just inexcusable. They did well besides that.

Curt, thatís what has me more ticked than anything else. Watson took a beating and carried us...but he wonít be able to take that beating all year. And Iíd hate to have another Luck situation in a few years because of terrible line play

Prevent defense ALWAYS prevents your team from winning when a field goal will beat you. I hate that defense.

But that was a very entertaining game to watch. I wish the Texans could have held on for the W.

Texans Defense was freaking horrible the whole game, Saints should of scored 40+. We should of traded Watt instead of Clowney, he did absolutely zero.

Do you think Clowney would have done anything without Watt? I donít...until Mercilus (or anyone else for that matter) proves they need to be focused on, Watt will be planned for first and foremost by the opposition. Someone else has to step up and try to take Clowneyís role and get some of the attention to open up a little breathing room for Watt. Just my opinion

What an ending!! Two observations:
1) The field goal would have been good at least 65 and maybe even 70 yards!

2) Watson as most of you know is a stud and is getting hit a lot. he seems to hold the ball a long time. They need more receiving options and obviously to get better O-line play.

Hopefully the Texans can keep Watson healthy the entire year.

The state of Louisiana may have won the football battle over the weekend, but the state of Texas still wins when it comes to Public education, roads and infrastructure, and personal hygiene.

I'm about to call the Governor and have you banished across the border to the East. No one from Votaw has any room to talk about someone from Porter.

So what if this great state has BTB and Webster Troy, we still win the public education battle.

We lost to the the NFC team that was one blown call away from the SB in one of the toughest venues in the league on MNF. Just take it for what it was. A loss to a **** good team. Two heavyweights trading blows.

Line was literally the same as last year minus Tunsil. They are so much more athletic and will get better as they gel. Senio wonít be playing LG once Howard heals. Henderson will improve or Johnson or Sharping will get a go. Run blocking was great.

Bob play calling was a+. His use of the backs was great. The 16 play drive was one of beauty. Offense is scary if the line can tighten up.

Defense is sketchy. Romeo defenses are known for taking time to scheme and fit. The lack of pass rush sucks and Iím still not on board with the Clowney move. Our CBís have to get better, Aaron Colvin is a liability.

We are built like the Chiefs. Bend donít break on defense and outscore everyone.

Good **** game on a weekend where I saw a lot of junk from other teams. Good to be a Saints and Texans fan on this Tuesday morning
