    Fire Pit Ideas

Ok guys, I’m going to the TBH brethren for some neat and crafty fire pit ideas. I'd like to make something cool. I have a start with 2 tank ends. One is 60" the other is 42". One idea was to fill the big one with gravel and set the smaller one it giving you a ledge to rest your feet. Or make 2. Can't decide if I want a removable cooking surface or not. What say you? What do you have? Images help.

use on as a heat deflector like the tall propane patio heaters maybe. Not exactly sure how it would work with the smoke though. How deep are they?

I thought about that. They are about 10" and 6" deep.

It might be something as simple as this.

Or as completed as this. But the cooking surfaces would have to be removable.

you could also just cut out a little of the smaller one, turn it upside down and weld to the larger one and use it as a base. if that makes sense

Use the big one to make what you would call your standard fire pit.
Then make a stand that will fit inside the fire pit. Kind of like this.
You could cut out Horses, stars, Deer; what ever you'd like.
The make the smaller one a Discada that fits on top.

Unless you plan to have a crowd, that 60"er is too big... I bought a 48" pit... It's great, but if you have just something like you and the wife or you and the kids/grandkids, it's hard to build a "small" fire in a big pit and still be able to enjoy it. If I were you and you indeed have the potential to entertain a large group, or have a crowd at camp if that's where this will go, I'd build two. I'd build the big one, but I'd also use the smaller head and build a more "personal" sized one. Here's mine... they had this 48incher and a 36incher. I wish I'd gotten the smaller one. Also, IF you plan to grill on it. the big one is a real pain to cook on. You have to build a bonfire in it to get fire anywhere close to the edge or put an internal grate (I just did this for mine) so you can build a smaller fire off to one side for cooking...

It actually has an adjustable grill too. I just have it off in those pics because we were not using the grill.

I didn't pay attention to the sizes earlier. A 42 inch discarda is huge. I don't know many people that would need one that big, but that one guy that did would probably buy it for a hefty amount.
