    Backstop with Cedar

I've been clearing my property of old growth cedar and have quite a stack of cut logs and poles.

I want to make a few permanent backstops around the place for shooting. Plan would be to hang horse stall mat as a backstop and utilize as much of the cedar as possible.

My thinking is that I could use the logs for posts and build a four post backstop that would utilize dimensional lumber to frame the floor and roof. Not sure how to square up cedar logs and notch for 2x4's to attach.

Any ideas, suggestions or pictures would be appreciated.

Thinking about buying one of these so I can square off at least one side of a log to work with.
