    Driving ethics and funerals

My grade school bus driver taught us to sit silent as we passed a funeral procession and I still follow that today no matter how far I am from them. Today traveling on 290 (2-3 lanes) I came up behind a procession traveling in the left lane. I turned off my radio and took my hat off. My question is, is it ethical to slowly pass them or should you stay behind them? Fortunately I never got a chance to even get past the last car before my exit.

I still pull over when meeting one and don't pass, even if I can.

I would stay behind if they are in front of me. And I always turn on my headlights if traveling in the opposite direction. I also pull over and wait till they pass whenever I can.

Put your flashers on and ease into the line with them. That way you don’t have to stop at the lights.

I also pull over on 2 lane rods but not on a divided Hwy/freeway.

Really hated to see the way some of the drives acted today! One even cut in to get around a slower car.

I always pull over and stop and do the sign of the cross when the front cars are passing. I remember a complete stranger do this when I was sitting next to my grandpa's casket in the hearse and it meant enough to me that I still remember that random guy 20 years later. He didn't have to in our location but he went out of his way to do it to show respect.

I try to pull over and take my hat off, but it's getting tougher these days in town. Plus with DRLs on most vehicles now, it can be hard to spot a procession.

If I am in a smaller town, backroads, etc, I always pull over but these days in the city, its just not feasible or safe for that matter.

If you've ever been in a funeral, it means alot when random strangers, show you a little respect. Very nice thing about Texas, and for the most part everyone does it. Other states could care less imo, at least I've never seen it anywhere else like I do in Texas.

This is one of those things that most people don't understand or care about...Not until they are one of the first cars in the procession. Then they just can't understand why others don't care.

I pull over and remove my cap until the last car has passed.

I remember being in a procession one time years ago. We passed where a lawn crew was mowing. The Hispanic gentleman mowing killed his mower, took off his cap and waited for us to pass to get back to work. Respect!!!
I've also been in one that was down a state highway for about 5 miles. I remember being pretty upset at other drivers that were passing us.

If passing one I always pull over and let them go by. Usually end up getting honked at by the folks behind me.

I've done a lot of PGR escorts. You wouldn't believe some of the stuff I've seen people do.

It’s prolly a good thing they don’t sell LAWS rockets in truck stops. [emoji33]

If I meet one I pull over and stop. If I have one come up behind me I will pull over and let them pass, then if 4 lanes I will proceed to pass with headlights on, and slowly pass . When I get to family car I match speed, roll window down and nod my head in respect and proceed forward. Same if I drive up on one. Turn head lights and flashers onon and slowly proceed to pass
