Very nice Bear target bow. The Tamerlane was made from ‘62-‘68. The flat brass coin with “rounded bear” was mounted in risers from ‘63-‘72. Therefore that bow is likely from 1963 to 1968. 1953 is the year of the Canadian patent for recurve bows. Call Bear Archery in Florida and they can confirm birth date based on serial number. I collected vintage Bear bows years ago and eventually sold them all.

Great info! I have two with the brass coin. One my dad bought new and hunted with, the other I got out of a pawnshop 20 years ago for 15 bucks. Looks like they hold their value
Saw those at the field archery shoots back in the 60's. Long before 3D shoots. Some people kept the site settings taped to the side of riser similar to the picture above.
