Default My Thread Worthy 'Nanza Story and a Little Help From Attendees

Alright as a lot of you know I had something happen to me at 'Nanza that was worth starting a thread for. And because what happened was pretty funny, I think it is worth changing my screen name for and I want my fellow 'Nanaza attendees to help me pick my new screen name. The potential names are after the story. Feel free to make suggestions as well.

Here's the story:

My wife, kids and I got back to the BW after eating supper and I decided to go downstairs and join the festivities of the pre-Bownanza tailgate and leave them to relax in the room and watch cartoons (you can decide which wanted to do what). So I loaded my koozie with a fresh, cold beer and headed for the elevator. I press the elevator call button and shortly after the elevator comes up and the door partially opens and I see an arm come out from the other side. I help the folks from the metal detector convention push the door open and get off the elevator. I let the doors close and press the call button several times until the doors open and close smoothly, thinking there was just an issue with the door not opening all the way. I get on and press the button for the first floor and start heading down. I start to get a little suspicious when the elevator pauses and jerks a little on the fourth floor and then the third floor so I press the 2 for the second floor hoping to get off and just take the stairs down from there and let the front desk know there is a problem with the elevator. The elevator ignored my request to stop on 2 and continued to the 1st floor where it stopped but the doors don't open. I give it a few extra seconds and press the button to open the doors, no luck, so I press 1 again, no luck, I press the button to open the doors on the opposite side of the elevator that open into the laundry room, no luck. I decide to try and give the doors a little tug to see if they maybe opened a little, no luck. I think about my options for a minute, do I: 1) Press the emergency call button and get help that way, 2) Call my wife, who is in the room and have her call the front desk and let them know someone is stuck in their elevator 3) Scream like a little girl, at the top of my lungs, for help and bang on the doors until some body came to my rescue, most likely causing a scene before I even made it to the party. I responsibly opted for option 1 and pressed the call button which sent me straight to the 911 system which isn't exactly what I was expecting since I didn't press the alarm button. The 911 system played the hotel information back to me and connected me to an operator. She was very polite and asked if there was an emergency to which I replied no ma'am, I am just in the elevator on the first floor of the hotel and the doors won't open. She asked if anybody was hurt, injured or had any other medical emergency and I said not ma'am it's just me and I have my cell phone and a beer. She said Thank You and that she would call the hotel and let them know and somebody would be in contact with me. I start lightly knocking on the door so the staff knew which one somebody was stuck in. It caught somebodies attention because I heard a voice from the other side. I think her name was Theresa but I am not sure with all the new names I learned this weekend. She was sweet enough to offer me elevator music but I told her I was ok and had my phone and a beer and I would be just fine as long as this didn't take longer than my beer lasted. She stayed there until the hotel staff came and told me they had called for the elevator repairman and he was on his way, to which I replied "How long?" and was answered with silence from the other side. I sent my wife a text and let her know what happened and that a repairman was on the way and proceeded to get caught up on TBH on my cell phone. Luckily the hotel's wifi worked in the elevator because the TBH pages were loading very slow over the network with tapatalk. About 20-25 minutes after hearing from the hotel staff I heard noises outside the elevator that sounded like somebody working on it and then I saw fingers on my side of the door but it still didn't open. I asked if he needed help pulling but didn't hear a reply. A couple minutes later I heard what sounded like a person above me in the elevator shaft and I said "hello" but was again met with silence. About 5 minutes later the elevator started going up and stopped on the second floor but the doors still didn't open so I pressed 1 again because I had gotten pretty comfortable being on the 1st floor so I wanted to go back down there. When I got to 1 the doors finally opened and I was able to step off the elevator about 30-40 minutes after becoming stuck. The weird part was when I went to step off there was a guy stepping on and I told him "I wouldn't get on that one if I were you." and he said " I know, I am working on it". I told him "Thanks for getting me out and getting here so fast on a Friday night." A lady standing outside the elevators asked me how long I had been on there and I told her 30 minutes or so. The repairman said no you haven't and I said yes I have because you have been here working on it for 10-15 minutes, have been in the elevator shaft and I went for a ride to the second floor and came back. He had this shocked look on his face and said "But the front desk said you were out!". I told him I wasn't and he asked why I didn't tell him I was still on there and I told him I didn't know that he didn't know I was still on there and thought everything he was doing was part of getting me out.
After that I went to the front desk and told them I finally got but was confused why somebody had told the repairman that I was out before he got there. They didn't have an answer for that but were very apologetic about it happening at all and asked for my room number and comped my room because of the incident. I proceeded to the tailgate festivities, had a great time and successfully completed several round trips on the elevator without incident. After telling the story several times it was officially decided that my screen name must be changed and I have come up with a couple and am listing one that several people called me. Please help me decide what to change my screen name to.

1. elevatorman
2. StuckInTheElevator
3. OutOfTheElevator

Thanks for reading and thanks for making my very first Bownanza memorable for something other than getting stuck in an elevator.

I thought that one should go to the our that stuck his truck on the public ROW earlier this year and it took like 3 days to get it out. He caught a lot of grief on that thread, and I gave him some of it. I also don't want people to think it applies to mud.

I like Lemmeout but I also like StuckInTheElevator because then I could abbreviate with SITE. I'll give this a few days before I make the official request to the mods, Mayor or Bossman for the official change.
