I love the diesels too. I used to want one until a friend's F250 4x4 blew a head gasket and he had to pay $6,000 plus to have it fixed.

I loved my 7.3s and then did not care for my 6.0 AT ALL.

I have not been pleased with what Ford has done with diesels ever since the 7.3 was eliminated.

Just spent some time looking at the 2011s down at the State Fair and just really did not like the truck anymore. I am a Powerstroke guy, but just did not care for it.

I had a 2002 F-350 that I never should have got rid of. It was the best year they ever produced, in my opinion. Followed closely by the 1997s.

Exactly. I'm on my 2nd 6.0 and need to replace it but the only diesel on th market without known problems is the Chevy and I don't care for that truck.

I've got 164K miles on my 02 7.3. Best truck that I've ever owned. Tomorrow will be the 12th time pulling my 30ft camper from south La. to FW, for the NASCAR race. Pulled it to Bristol 6 times, two times to Nebraska and two times to Orlando. Then the truck alone has been on numerous hunting trips all over the country.

By this statement, I am guessing you never owned a 7.3L.

Notice all the folks in this thread that LOVE their Fords are loving 7.3s.

I never had a single problem out of my 6.0, but it was a shadow of the 7.3.

Once I did not like the 2011 Fords, I took a hard look at the Duramax.

Last Wednesday I rolled out of the GMC place with a 2009 Sierra 2500HD slt, crew cab, 4x4, Duramax.

Lines are much cleaner than the Chevy IMO.

I would have never dreamed I would own a Duramax, but I will tell you that it is the nicest truck I have ever driven. I had a 2006 F-350 King Ranch Crew Cab, 4x4, 6.0 PS, so I am not coming from a Ford XLT or anything.

It really is that dang nice.

Actually I had a 99' 7.3 and I loved it too. It was definately a work horse. When I had kids I had to get rid of the single cab and get a crew cab. My 07' pulls great, but not quite as good as the 99' did.

Im Ford through and through!!! I have had 7 of them. One 7.3, three 6.0's and three 6.4's. I just bought my fourth 6.4 today and as far as Im concerned, you cant beat a Ford!!! I havent had a single problem with any of my Fords. I put 75-90K a year on them and routinely pull a lot of weight with them. Theyre the daddies!!!

my dad just got rid of his 2000 7.3liter turbo charged diesel.she was a brute maroon with gray 2 tone dully and dule exhaust...mmmm...god i loved the way that thing purred....
I thought my dad was going to cry when he got rid of the beast...
that old truck was part 4x4,boat,air plane, and sports car...
and trust me she got here names for a good reason

and one other reason you cant beat ford is my papa had a 1995 that he bought brand new and it was a white 4 door dully with a 5 speed trans.and a turbo charged 7.3L. he put 350,000m on here then he went and bought a dodge, but his old ford is still going she now has 375,000m

Did he have a bunch of mods? The 6.0 has pretty flexible headstuds. They need upgraded before adding too much boost or horsepower. I really like my 05 6.0. Wouldn't own any other diesel besides a Ford.

I'm looking at a 1994 7.3L PowerStroke. Its got 320K on her and still going strong as the guy says. Haven't drove it. But hoping too soon. If its in as good of shape as he says it is. What yall think the engine has left in it? Hes asking top dollar for it though.

At 320 i would be more worried bout the trans and other stuff. i know that my friend has 650k on his and it will still pull his backhoe. No real engine probs but a couple of trannys and nothing inside really works anymore.

I wouldn't pay top dollar for it, that's a lot of miles even for a diesel. How much is he asking?

Just for reference I paid $6000 for my 93 F250 (7.3) with 70,000 miles. I've also had to pay about $2500 for repairs this year, injector pump, batteries, A/C, brakes, etc.

I still love my truck though!

Got a 2000 4x4 7.3 Excusion w/193,000 on it and it still goes anywhere and a 2005 4x4 6.0 Excusion that sure runs good and rides nice but it only has 43,000 on it, it has the get up and go though. Well see which one last in the end.

96 F250 243,760 miles, cold air,4" exhaust and programed. Was coming back from H-Ville last saturday doin about 75 on cruise, came up on a duramax with banks stickers on the side. I passed him and he punched it and went past me and then slowed down. I caught back up to him, cruise was still set, he punches it again this time so did I. Much to his surprise and mine he did not leave me like he thought he would. I was about a truck length behind him and slowly walking him down. When I got a little less than half a length behind him he lets up. I might have passed him had I had another 30-40 miles. I love my 7.3 HATE the twin I-beam front end though.

I kept my '97 F250 4x4 4dr 7.3 for 10 yrs and it had 276k on it when I got rid of it. I replaced the trans at 200k on that one.

My '02 7.3 F250 4x4 4dr has 155 now on it and running like it was still new.

My wifes '05 4x4 Excursion has the 6.0 and I can not keep that pile out of the shop, I wish she didn't like it so much!

I am now a 7.3l lover. Just picked up '03 F-250 Lariat with just under 61K miles. Looking forward to many years of use....

Got a few things I want to do to it. Level, intake, exhaust. PM me any experiences...
