We pulled a snapping turtle out of my grandparents 1/4 acre pond that was about 40" round and its head was about 4" round. That was a tough fight with a Zebco 33! It had to be 30+lbs.

My neighbor has some young cousins way down in East Texas that CPR big alligator snappers from time to time. He has shown me pics of some that are 150 lbs or more. Amazing how big these dinos get. I think these turtles are from Lake Palestine area. No doubt these things could take an arm off if they bit down on you.

My daughter's pet turtle died this morning, so I guess I'm helping out on terrapin control.

I built one very similar to design in this post. Caught over 50 red ear in the first 90 days at our 1/2 acre pond. I’d say it worked very well!
