Default Acceptable Speech?

I get confused (or not) when I read about "acceptable speech" on college campuses. It sounds like the 1st amendment to the constitution is a suggestion on some campuses. Now a bill to define acceptable speech?

We have gone too far down this road and it needs to stop.

I find it quite ironic that it is the left - and college campuses - that are clamping down on free speech. Remember the 60's and 70's? College campuses touted themselves as bastions of free speech and and a place where the free expressions of ideas was protected. Speeches and rallies about all the contentious topics of the day - Viet Nam, civil rights, women's lib, abortion, etc. took place on every campus. Now that those same folks who protested there as kids are in charge of the place only speech they agree with is allowed.

Yeah, I was in college in the late 70's and early 80's when a lot of those people were young professors. It wasn't as bad at a conservative university (La Tech), but there were some. Those were the ones that gave me a hard time because I had a short haircut (just out of the military). Real open minded lot there.

Liberals don't believe in free speech. They believe in proselytizing while everyone else should shuts the hell up. Conversing is not an option.
