Its amazing what a coat of paint does. Bought Blacksmith brand high temp BBQ paint from Triple S steel here in town and that stuff is just plain amazing. Dries fast and covers like nothing else I've ever seen (and I used to work at a paint store ) Just needs fire and some peanut oil to season.

Thanks for sharing. I just picked up a 150 gallon propane tank yesterday. I will be looking back at this thread quite a bit , if I ever get around to making it into a pit. Lots of neat ideas. I curious as to how well it drafts. I plan on using the Feldon calculator as well.

              Can you adjust the intake?

Yes I have the 8" round cutout from the firebox that I've attached a super strong permanent magnet to so that I can stick it on the outside of the fire box to control airflow.

Holding about 215 at the chimney exhaust, 250 at the left door and 280 at the right door. Its drafting so well there is no smoke leakage around the firebox

Saturday was the real test. Prime brisket and wild piglet. 13 hours of fire management and waiting to see how well she cooks. It was absolute torture and a huge test of will power to keep those doors closed...I just had to trust my temp readings and let the chips fall where they may. I'd say it was a homerun but I'm obviously biased I finally got that dang smoke ring!
