        Are you going to completely weld the strap on the lids or just leave them tacked? Doubt it makes much difference, just curious how it would look painted with all the tacks instead of a constant bead.

        Great job by the way. That pit is massive. Bet it will hold good constant heat for awhile once you get it up to temp.

          I plan on leaving the doors tacked for looks, haven't made any plans for paint yet

            I wouldn't worry about painting it. Aaron Franklin's pits aren't painted and it looks prettay swet as it is.
