    baiting axis

I will be going on an axis hunt in June and was looking for some tips on what works best to draw in axis? It will be a 2.5 day hunt on a low fence ranch.

Get a bail of alfalfa... They can't resist...

I have heard alfalfa works pretty well. Anything else?

I killed my best one when he was eating out of a protein feeder. I've also heard they love alfalfa

Water is always good in the summer.

Corn and protein work too. It's more a function of being in the right place at the right time than anything else (at least on our place). They're fairly nomadic here.

We have them across the river 1/2 to one mile away. Cant get them to us. We have tried alfalfa and protein of course. But our place isn't thick with trees for cover, does that matter? (All oaks) also the neighbors have mostly cedar tree and have them. EERrrrrrr

Chaffaye works great for me. Only problem is they eat it all night. I can't stay up past the 10:00 news anymore. Good luck, it's tough to find sometimes. Sweet feed works too, everything likes that.

I have been hunting at my place for 10 years North of Del Rio, Texas and have been told their were free range Axis in our area. I had never seen them but after putting out cotton seed to see if my WT would eat it, POW I have the Axis deer almost every day EATING the cotton seed I put out! Crazy.......
