I almost shot a doe last year almost to the day, I posted about it on here and my fellow TBHer's corrected me about the regs. I, like you, had read them many times but didn't realize. It was my first season at LBJ.

I shot a buck at Grapevine a few years ago and didn't find him until about a month later.

On the USFS anterless thing, I'm not sure how TPWD could word it any better...

"Antlerless Deer: On USFS lands antlerless deer may be taken without a permit, but only during youth-only and archery seasons and from (Nov. 24-27)."

Ooh no. They worded it just fine!!! It was totally my stupidity.
And yes, he was decent. From what I could tell he was an 8. Though I tried not to look at his antlers so I kept my nerves in check. Very nice body size for the area.
