I will only deal with local/regional banks. It is generally a more personable experience and they tend to work with you better.

I like to use a local bank.

If your wife already has Chase, why not just open a new account there so funds are separate, but that way you both have visibility to all accounts on one online banking screen. Makes it easier in the event you need her to transfer some money your way for a new toy or something.
