Finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Finished up the edging around the doors yesterday. Today we were able to get the handles on the doors and mounted two of the counter weights.

They are balanced real well about 45 to 55 percent open and the stop at a great height when fully opened.

We plan to be finished up in the next couple of days. This weekend, we'll begin seasoning the pits.

These will never work. Please finish welding the counterweights on the other side and send to me for free disposal. While not necessary to receive free disposal, you'd prove yourself an eternal gentleman by filling every nook and cranny with that wood before delivering. This will ensure the pitts don't blow away while being disposed.

            Very clean and well done

It's all finished up. Coated it with oil today and burned it in. We didn't install the front shelf because of the oil running out during the burn.

Stopped at HEB on the way home and picked up 4 briskets and 4 pork butts to run through them tomorrow to begin the seasoning.

Next week, I want to run it across the scales. I don't think it is over 7K but it may be close. If it does go over, we'll be upgrading the tires and axles. I'm glad I decided to go with a trailer with brakes because you can definitely tell it is behind the truck.

                              Very impressive!!

How much clearance is there from bottom of firebox to the ground?

                                Lord but that's pretty!

Any worry about dragging the firebox doors off?
