Made a little order last night, going to try and catch a few yotes at the house between now and end of Jan.

          Probably try some calling too

Looking forward to this weekend. Gonna run a short line at my deer lease. I’ve got 15 footholds I’m gonna put out for coyotes, bobcats and grey fox, plus a bunch of DP’s and conibears for coon. And I’m gonna try that bait set idea where I dump a deer carcass in a kind of restricted area and guard it with snares and footholds. How high off the ground do y’all typically set your snares for West Texas yotes? I’ve put snares up for them on crawl under a before but not really in the open.

Caught a couple last nite. They must be on the move.

I started and caught a yote on the first night. Domestic dog droppings do the trick.

I put out 9 footholds and a couple dog proofs at lunch today at my hunting lease. An example of one of my dirt hole sets.

I was able to get a few traps out on Thanksgiving day.

Ten sets produced three coyotes Friday morning.

James, how are you anchoring traps?

                            Earth anchors or stakes?

What is your setup between trap and anchor?

I have some drags but I would like to try anchors so I don't have to hunt trap and critter

Anybody else feel free to chime in too, just noticed in TUCO's pics that they were anchored

I build my own but I would think earth anchors of any kind would work for you. I used drags for 40 years and switched to anchors a year or so ago. I like them very well aside from the fact that everyone that comes by see's your catch before you do.
