    Some Milky Way and astrophotography

Had a chance to go out to the ranch this past weekend. Not a cloud in the sky so figured it would be a good chance to do some astrophotography. Still learning, but it's fun to practice.

What kind of equipment is needed to take these kind of pictures? These are some of my favorite types of pictures!

                    Some Milky Way and astrophotography

                    Thanks!

These are east of Palo Duro.

                    Equipment setup:
                    Nikon D750
                    Tamron 15-30 2.8 lens
                    Tripod

As far as settings, it varies. But for the most part those are 20 second exposures at around 3200 ISO. The lens will only go down to 2.8 so that's where it was set.

For finding the Milky Way- it is pretty easy in the panhandle. Just get away from town and you can see it clearly. These were taken at about 3-4am over two nights. The app Stellarium can also help with planning.
