If this weather will cooperate tomorrow, I’ll see how many pounds of feed each opening provides so I can figure my needed open times.

You come up with some crazy stuff! Good work.

What was your procedure for cutting open that little pressure tank? I have never opened one up before.

LOL.... I’ll take that as a compliment...

I just unscrewed the valves from the top to make sure there was no pressure. One was broke so it had been drained for what looked like years. (Refrigerant)
Then I just went to it with a cutting torch. No issues.

Exactly 4 pounds per feed dump.

So if they eat 8-10 pounds per hour then I can leave it open an hour and that will feed about 14 pounds in morning and same in evening. That will get me 70 days between fills without going dry.

After I made sure everything performed flawlessly, I put a thick coat of XO-Rust paint on the inside of the feed head. I did forget to unplug the feed unit though and some leftover feed dropped into the wet paint. Oh well.... Painted in feed attractant I guess. [emoji41]

Are you planning on drilling a few drain holes in the bottom of your feed tube? Might help if you get any hard rains to keep it from collecting in the tube.

I’ve drilled 6 holes in the bottom for a drain.

That's a Great looking feeder. been wanting to build something like that. Are you bagging the protein to fill of getting a truck to fill ? how much you think it costs to fill up each time ? That's my biggest drawback ??? I'm spending about 300.00 for 3 months or so, which i know is chump change for some. Seems like my feed Bill is more that my Lease payment
