I would use a brass hammer and lightly tap the lips down - the magazines are mass produced and aren't really spec'd. Sometimes you will get one that works they way you describe.
The extracting and ejecting problem is a different problem although may be related to the next cartridge obstructing its ejection. That most likely is an ammo problem. Fix the mag lips first- don't use a gripping tool to do it. If that doesn't work, change ammo.
