    4 point Age/genetics Lampasas TX

The last 2 years I’ve seen 4 points like this one in Lampasas county (the one I saw last year seemed to be larger but I don’t have pics to compare). I’ve also seen a 4 point probably 20 inches wide on the neighbors 4000+ acre high fence ranch. Wondering if this is a normal genetic trait for the area? Thoughts on age? I also saw him with a ~1.5 year old little 6 point and the body sizes were noticeably different. These are the only pictures I took of him.

Looks to be a 2.5 year old. Not sure about the genetics in the area though.

That is a 3 yr old deer in the Hill Country area. Shoot him if you have the tags, but if it where me I would work on doe numbers first. You can do more when trying to manage a place by just shooting does first.

I would shoot him. He should be a lot better. He may make a giant 4 or 6 point in 2 more years but genetics suck

Was just wondering if anyone knew if this is a normal genetic trait for the area since I’ve seen several! The land tract is only ~80 acres so difficult to manage other than trying to keep does.

Too old to have that kind of rack. I see a 3.5 also.

no brow tines and that rack at 2.5 or 3.5 would get him popped on our place.
too many mouths to feed to let him run around. better to eat him while he is tender
