I’ve seen many black coyotes through the years. They’re not as rare as you’d think.

This, I don't think they're extremely rare. I've seen 2. One in East Texas, and one in ks.

Awesome pictures! I'd love to see one! And then I'd love to see one daily in my house, but one step at a time.

Definitely a coyote. I saw one in Edwards county a few years back. Would have thought it was a dog too at first but it was hanging with a normal color phase coyote.
I think when one of these breeds with a mountain lion we get black panthers but I’m no biologist.

I've seen 2 in North Carolina.

I have seen a lot around here at home. This one could be mixed with domestic dog and was roughly 4 miles from our place. My Dad watched 6 black coyotes at one time on top of a hay bail at our farm.

Thats a cool looking yote, I would be hunting him like I would a 150" deer. That would be a heck of a mount.

Looks like they were well within range?

I never have seen a black one hunting South Texas, West Texas or the Panhandle and the western states. I do get quite a few reports from East Texas, LA and MS of the dark to black color phases. Where were these photos taken?
