    My ‘new’ Sarrels recurve

New in quotes because I traded on TBH for it. It’s got a crazy history which I hold for now- something better told over a campfire or with a single malt in hand.

A 58” Puma takedown, 43# and sure is fun to shoot. My original plan was to bring as backup to my wheelie for Montana elk, now I’m seeing if I can get proficient to take an ethical shot up to 30 yards. My son describes hunting dark timber as flushing thousand pound pheasant. A recurve is the bow of choice. I gave him my ‘extra’ 54# Red Wing Hunter for the purpose. I’ve never hunted elk with my son, I’m imagining it with both of us shooting string bows!

Beautiful bow of cocabola and zebrawood. My 50 year old Bear quiver went from my Red Wing Hunter to the Puma nicely.

      Great looking bow.
      I know it shoots great...Sarrels.

What’s the minimum draw weight for elk in Montana ? In Wyo it’s 50 but those dope smoking elk in Colorado only need 35#

                Hijack alert:

Montana has no draw weight requirement for elk.

Good luck and post photos of dead elk this fall!

I just read the game regs and true there’s no minimum weight.

I did find funny the ad on page 3 with the pooping antelope!

Shot it again on Sunday. I’m getting groups at 20. Soon time to humble myself at 25 and 30 yards. The 50 year-old Bear quiver worked perfectly, zero rattle. Glad I bought it when I was a kid.

Handsome bow Bill. Good luck on the elk hunt.

I just got my Sarrell Blueridge back from Bob...I missed it thoroughly. He makes some sweet shooters.

Trad guys at the range shot it. They liked the draw and had never seen a longbow style riser and grip on a recurve.

I’m liking it. Only thing it needs is a “Texas inside” or “God bless Texas” in gold on the limb. Maybe that’s what I should write with a gold pen”.
