I've been trying to get my daughter on a solid deer for the past few years. She shot her first doe at nine and killed several over the next few seasons. I was able to put her in front of a couple of solid ETX deer last season and earlier this season. Unfortunately, she couldn't close the deal since both bucks were on does and didn't offer much opportunity for a shot. She has shown great patience and didn't want to shoot a young buck just for the sake of killing one. Rewind back to September and I made a call to a good friend who owns a ranch in Junction. He was confident in his ability to put her in a deer she would be proud of so we booked a hunt for early December. Abbey closed the deal in a great first buck, making a perfect shot. I have to admit, I was shaking like a leaf sitting back behind her in the blind but she kept her cool through the whole process. I can assure you, there is nothing better than watching your kid take their first trophy!
