    Slammed them in Alaska

I was fortunate enough to be able to spend the last 3 days fishing in Alaska and boy was it truly an experience. We had a large group 26 folks 22 of which were fishing. The kingfisher lodge was able to set us up with first class accommodations and some amazing captins.

Our group took up 5 boats and every boat did excellent every day. My group had the opportunity to fish with Captain Dave aboard “Pockets”.

Day 1 of fishing was definitely the nicest day weather wise we had clear sky’s and 8’ seas but Dave was able to set us up on limits of Coho salmon and Halibuts along with a bonus Chinook salmon. Click image for larger version

Day two we woke up to even worse conditions the seas were mean and sky’s grey full of rain... we had 6-8’ seas with the occasional 10’ set along with severe wind chop winds were sustained at 30-40mph. Captin Dave definitely worked hard to put us on fish again.
We ended up this day with a good box of 19 cohos and 1 large king. It was way to rough to try to halibut fish. Click image for larger version

Day 3 was another pretty nautical day we had lighter winds around 20-25mph but the seas.... we had 10-12’ seas with the occasional 14’ set roll through but then again Dave got us on fish withen minutes. We had a down rigger go down and a sea lion attack some fish but ended the day with another 25 Coho and 1 big king. Click image for larger version

Overall this has been an amazing experience kingfisher lodge really takes care of you. Our group all did extremely well with the weather conditions we had. Most boats limited out every day On Coho salmon. We ended up having over 2000 pounds of fillets in 3 days. Each person fishing is taking home 94 pounds of fillets each!Click image for larger version

If we could have halibut fished every day we probably would be bringing home 125-150 lbs each

Hope you left some fish for other people! That's quite the haul!

Alaskan Salmon at the HEB is usually over $10/lb.
