I haven't been able to hunt much so far this year. In fact I have had two sits total. So let't just say I feel really lucky. I have had this buck on camera on and off since mid September at my lease in Shackelford County.
Yesterday afternoon I made the 3 hour drive to my lease to hunt one sit and try to fix my cell trail camera that had stopped transmitting. It was really hot but I knew the front would be moving in after dark. Luckily with only one window open in the Krivoman blind and a steady wind I was able to stay undetected through all my sweat.
I had good deer movement starting about 5:15pm and around 6:45 I spotted this guy making his way in. He put on a little show. He made a scrape, dogged a doe a little and then stood out of my shooting lane for a very long 5 minutes. He finally committed and I made a good shot at 21 yards. He made it about 60 yards and crashed in a dry creekbed.
