My son made fun of my wife for using high brass 12ga. to shoot a rattler on our driveway. One other time we were riding around the ranch and spotted a rattler. I jumped out and was looking at it and I asked her if there was anything in the jeep I could kill it with and she said there was a hammer. I asked her if there was anything with a longer handle.

Not necessarily any worse than a hoe or shovel where you are "chopping." In fact, if you put an edge on this tool you can pin him down behind the head with the blade. Then just drag that blade toward you and watch his head come off....trust me.

It's a great snake killer to keep handy when you're in the yard.

Just whatever I have handy. A stick, shovel, hole, brick. Last night, the copper head my dog found in the back yard met his demise with a piece of electrical conduit. Just pinned his head down with the tip and pressed it into the ground. All in one motion, the pressure removed the head and pushed it down into the ground. I then took the body and tossed it out over the back fence.

Ninja stars man...ninja stars. Yes, I killed a rattlesnake with a star when I was a kid. These days, if I’m wearing boots, I’ll stomp a copperhead or small water Mocs. No way would I ever stomp a large rattler.
