We just started this plot back up about mid-summer this year after it laying out about 5 years, so it is still a little weedy. Burned down weeds with gly in July, Johnsongrass was head high. Mid August we ripped it up with a spring-tooth harrow. Third week in Sept just broadcast Triticale right before a rain. Probably should have burned it down with gly again first, but didn't. We got a really good stand on the Triticale, and the brassicas I slung over the top of it first week of Oct are coming up good too.

This is a trail going through the woods from the main plot to a feeder 75 yards away. You can see my mineral station there as well. No prep at all on the trail, just sling it out before a rain and let it grow.

I saw a fantastic buck yesterday afternoon in my neighborhood, movement picking up around Austin.
Typically, this would be about the last weekend to catch a buck running with his bachelor group and his daily feeding pattern (at least in my pasture).
Thanks for the CWD links.
Anybody hunting this weekend?

I will be in Briscoe county tomorrow through Monday. Will be my first time to sit in a stand this year so pretty pumped both to hunt and look at pics. We are doing our game survey on Monday so with a new moon and decent temps it should be a good weekend.
