AR Pistol Build Question

I am planning a pistol build and starting to acquire parts. I am thinking of a truck gun with a 10" barrel. My question is with a 10" barrel do I need a carbine or pistol length gas system? Will either work?

Also, I haven't decided between 5.56 or 300 BO, would one require a different gas system?

Pistol on either the 5.56 or 300 in 10”.

It depends on the barrel, I've seen pistol and midlength on 10in barrels.

If you plan on suppressing it, yes there is benefit from adjustable gas block.
