It was 42 this morning. I was tempted to light the stove but just made a cup of coffee and got dressed inside my bag. Kole is on his way up from Amarillo now. I've hunted the area a few times but never for deer. Been camping here since I was a kid.

Set up glassing now. Got a guy somewhat close calling for elk.

First hunt this morning. Glassed up 3 elk with the guys who were bugling near me. We chit chatted for awhile and they gave me some spots where they'd seen deer. I saw two not huge bucks at around 50yds and thought about shooting the 3x3 but thought against it. You can barely make him out in the last picture. This is not a trophy hunt, but heck I didn't want my hunt to end 2 hours into it!

Also I forgot my phoneskope in the truck so the elk pics suck.

Kole came in this afternoon. We went and glassed a little then walked down a logging road near where I saw the deer this morning. Rained off and all all afternoon. No deer seen.

Found another group of elk. Got to watch a couple young bulls sparring. One decent bull in the group. Saw 4 does and a monster buck while driving to a new spot. Drove around the corner and parked the truck and tried to put a stalk on but never found him. Good 4x4 who was hard horned. No pics of him dang it.
