Which of the two evils soothes you better?

Would rather stay the way we are. If they get an income tax, I don't see them saying they dont want the property tax. Could be wrong, just have never seen a politician give anything back.

Income tax so you could actually own your property.but I don't think Texas will ever have one especially after this next election which don't hold me to this but I think it is proposition 4.

Never thought I'd agree with this but a few years ago I had a change of heart.
It should be criminal for state agencies to tax you 12k a year to own something that has been in the family and paid off for 50 years.

I was staying within the framing of the question but I do like the sales tax for the reasons you speak of and it gets the black market money to some degree.

This I think would work......
Wife and I are empty nesters as of last year, selling our home of twenty years
Property tax and insurance has become unbearable, besides trying to keep up maintaining 3000 plus square feet
My taxes have gone from $2100 s year in 1999 to 10 k
Insurance in 1999 was $1282, now over $6k
Ridiculous

Should be a sales tax and nothing else. Problem is, like mentioned before, politicians will never give up sources of income they can use to manipulate voters and maintain power.
