Check out Big Boggy NWR. I used to duck hunt it like a mad man, and have seen hogs on several occasions out there. Boggy is near Wadsworth, that is pretty close to you.

We've been looking around here for a year round Hog lease down here and it's hard to find really good spot... I might try for the draw hunts

The Sam Houston National Forest is now going to be open year round for hog hunting. They just started that this year. Not close to where your at, but it is year round and for only $48. I live in Katy and I scout for deer with my bow in Feb. and March and chase the pigs any time I get near them.

            Sam Houston WMA

What are the weapon restrictions to hunting year round in that area?

Sam Houston National Forest WMA - any legal means & methods except no dogs, traps and no hunting at night. You'll need to check the APH Map booklet for each unit you wish to hunt and find out whether or not feral hogs is a legal species for that unit, if it has a season and what legal means & methods may be used.

Here is the list of all the Annual Public Hunting Permit (APH) Feral hog Units:

Annual Public Hunting Permit (APH) Units that allow Feral Hog Hunting for 2011-2012 season
Requires the APH, $48 permit in addition to a valid hunting license

Please check each Unit for Legal species, seasons, legal means & methods that may be used. Not all species may be taken on all units. Refer to the Legal Game legends on individual unit maps to determine which species may be taken on each unit. If a species or season is not listed in the Legal Game box, there is no hunting allowed for that species or by that particular means on the unit. Example, if under deer there is only an archery season listed, then there is no gun hunting allowed for deer on that area.

A day lease or year hog lease would be perfect. I went to Matt's Family Orchard once as well. All I saw was a squirrel.
We (several selected hunters) and others agreed have talked with the Park Manager there to offer a Feral Hog hunt category separate from the Gun Deer Either-Sex Hunt Category and he will not budge on that one even though the hogs are literally tearing that habitat up. I can understand having campers there to view wildlife in early spring through majority of the fall, but getting a couple 2 hunt periods or even just ONE for feral hogs would be beneficial to the park's habitat and increase their funds.

You must be close or west of Oakhurst or checking the area South of Coldspring of the Sam Houston National Forest WMA - closest APH land to Livingston TPWD has in the program.

Be careful on this one, many banks or property lines will end in the middle of a river for the most part and hunting from a boat or any watercraft is prohibited. To stay on the safe-side, always get landowner permission to hunt a river bank just so to cover yourself and its always best to have that in writing if a game warden checks you.

The only hog hunting down here for me is on a friend's grandpa's land. Good hunting, spot and stalk style
