New water well price - does this seem correct?

I had a well dug 3 years ago, 800 feet, steel casing and aluminum screen, 5 HP pump, 30K, by the time I had storage tank and irrigation pump installed I was at 40K, well makes 15 gallons a minute, I have about 2 acres of St Augustine that likes water.

Chambers and Phillips in Canton did mine last year for $10,000 here in Fruitvale. I can't believe that they would not do one in Athens.

They quoted me $23k for a 980' well in Smith County in 2012.

mine was a bit more... i would be suprised if you get good water at that depth..
mine was nearly 700 to trinity and im just around the corner from you
They usually quote that depth then "end up" needing to go deeper for better water.

Had one drilled in Springtown 2.5 years ago, 347' = $8878.50 total

That is about what I paid a year ago for a 280' well turn key in Houston County. Got really good water and plenty of it.
