A braked .300WM/WSM is a reasonable pick. Black Ice, what are you using?

Chuck Hawks had an interesting perspective, especially about the "it can shoot 55-200gn+" argument. http://www.chuckhawks.com/perfect_pair.htm

My concern was about twist, stabilization and accuracy, but he points out If you really want to do that you'll have to re-zero between each significant change in bullet weight.

Ammo for both is everywhere. I read it on here before. “ walk into a hardware store, walk out with missles”. Good choices

No, only read about it. Are you seeing 1/4 MOA? I wonder how much of the recoil work the dragon snout brake is doing vs. the buffer, and if that brake or similar come close to that effect on a bolt action's recoil?

I haven’t had a chance to dial it in yet. I shot it prone with dirt blowing back in my eyes at 100 yards and got a 3/4 group with a $20 box of ammo from academy of a backpack. With a good rest and Good ammo it’s a .5 moa gun with me shooting.

Really, now I'm trying to make a plan to get one. I have to think with a shorter barrel it turns it down just a bit.

Read it A LONG time ago...more than once. If Jack was around today, with today's improved solid & bonded bullets??

I would bet you a cold beer he would agree the differences in calibers using the same 30-06 parent case simply isn't the same as it was back in the late 30's / early 40's with conventional pills!! The 270 is a great round but all that has changed simply due to the advancement in bullet tech.

Read PO Ackley's research & how the 280rem with the 40 degree shoulder is the most efficient 7mm bore around comparing velocity to powder consumption. That 411 hasn't changed. You add that with today's pills & it owns the 06 case.

I've been wanting to turn my '06 into a 280ai for a little while now.

Hunted nearly 55 years all over Texas.
Seen kills and killed deer with lots of cartridges large and very small.
I decided the 115 -140 grain loads were about right for deer and I wanted a flat shooting round, but not the hottest/more expensive rounds (Weatherby and/or magnums).
The 25-06 and 270 were just right in my opinion. Accurate & Easy to shoot in lots of rifle options.
The federal fusions seems to be a great bullet based on a lot of deer and many hogs.
Settled on 130’s in my .270.
“Wasted” lots of time and money getting to a time proven round.

Read a post somewhere years back about a change to eBay policy that they would no longer accept posts to sell "bullet points" (bullets/projectiles). And, it was from Kalifornya.
