I hear this a lot and I have to respectfully disagree.

We have a family place in Pointe West at the south end of Galveston Island...just before San Louis pass. If you haven't been before, give it try.

Deep beaches with decent sand that are cleared twice a week.

No vehicles allowed on the beach so your kiddos and dogs are safe.

Fishing is the best I've found in west bay.

If you stay in the hood, there's a great beach club and pool, plus a lazy river pool on the bay side.

And it's an 1.25 hours from Houston, Tx.

SPI has by far the best Texas beach. Rowdy in March, but good water and sand. If you can drive a little further go to Alabama or Florida.

It all depends on if you are looking for clear water and white sand beaches. We have found they are not in Texas. It is worth the drive.
Incorrect. SPI was recently ranked top 5 in the country for water cleanliness.
