Yoder YS640 is a hard one to beat, expensive but worth every penny. I’ve had mine for 2 years and still impressive

"Paradoxically, superiority complex rises from the deep-seated and repressed feeling of inferiority or lack of self-esteem."

Check out the RecTec, OP. Don't sell through third-party vendors so for prices comparable to those of the competition, they are able to sell beefier products. Stainless components. Not stainless coated. Once you add the shelf between the legs, it is STOUT as can be. Smokes great. They sell "searing plates" for them but haven't tried them. (Have an old smokey for grilling). Way prefer the RT over my buddy's Traeger.

This is the route i'd go in your price range.

To those of you who dont think you are getting the best flavor/smoke ring out of your pellet grill, try a premium pellet instead of the crap the sell in most places. Im told it will make all the difference in the world.

Why not just get a green egg. Can do anything from smoking meat to grilling and even cooking pies and such. To me they are all a back patio needs.

We have a Traeger and I absolutely love it! I use it 90% of the time to cook. Seriously nearly every night.

I see this is an old thread but--I cant believe the CampChef hasn't been mentioned. A good buddy has one and we've pulled some great meats off it.
Fits in your budget and has the Sear Box for cooking your steaks too.

                  THIS lol.

I imagine a hurricane/ power outage scenario. Guys lets bbq so all this meat in my freezer dont go to waste... Nah we cant, no power. Maybe we can find a battery so we can fire up the traeger.

I heard the best bark and flavor is produced by using Purina Rabbit Chow.

Equine Senior horse feed beats that hands down! [emoji38]

I had a camp chef woodwind but lost it in the great house fire of 2019.. it was okay but it didn’t hold temp very well and had big swings.
I’ve got the Rec Tec bull 700 now and love it. Plenty of room, has 2 temp probes and a 40lb hopper.

Has anyone here used the black olive grill? If I didnt have a big green egg that I love, I think it is one I'd look hard into buying. It is a kamado style pit, with an electric element and pellet feeder on it. Seems like the best of all worlds to me.
