My in laws have property in Sanoma County, and I've seen a lot of nice deer there. Just now starting to research a DIY hunt there.

If you have to hunt public land in California, look into zone B2 around Trinity county. Lots of public land and I killed a lot of bucks there with my bow. Now if you have private land to hunt, Sonoma county is a good place for deer, turkey and hogs. I've killed quite a few hogs and turkeys in Sonoma county around Sonoma lake.

The only B zone I’ve hunted was in Mendocino NF. I carried a 45 in my fanny pack while bowhunting thinking the probability of needing it with the Mexican weed growers was higher than running into a GW who’d search me.

T minus 2 days. My game cam set up low got a small fork, some pigs and a bunch of turkeys. I’ll be hunting up high where I saw them.

My usual deer hunting partner’s wife is ready to have a baby, he’s saying it will not happen until Monday- so he’ll be hunting!
