Nope... that makes it even better! What kinda bow does your brother shoot? Has he been on a bear hunt before too?

He's never been on a bear hunt. He will either shoot his Hummingbird longbow or his Black Widow recurve.

I haven't decided which bow I'll use. It will probably be my Dry Creek Brushwolf 45#@28 or my ACS 49#@28.

One of the men on my lease let his brother shoot his trophy this year. He was so pumped. Sounds like a great experience in the making.

That'll make it even better!! I wish my brother would hunt with me more, but he's more of a fisherman. It works out though, he can always put me on some catfish or crappie.

One of the questions on the questionnaire they sent is whether I prefer a ground blind or a treestand. I'm leaning toward a ground blind.

Tree stands on a bear bait are great, but a ground blind is a real hoot! Especially if it's a pop-up and you get a curious one that comes over to see what's in the blind! Bears have really bad breath! LOL! Enjoy your hunt!

I talked to Tony. They use 12 - 15' ladder stands or natural brush blinds augmented by burlap if necessary. I think I'm going to opt for the ground. A natural blind set up 15 yards from the bait should give me better shot angles than being 15' in the air.

Plus, it will just be cool to be sitting on the ground with bears that close!

                                Good luck!
