    Caliber recommendations..

What's a good guide/truck gun for predators but also legal to dispatch deer? Wanting something that's offered barrel wise in the 18-22" range. TIA

.243 if you're wanting to use it for both predators and deer. 87 grain V-Max for coyotes,90 grain Softpoints for deer.

Savage Axis or Ruger American Compact if you're wanting a shorter barrel.

            yep.

although I often carry a .308 as my passenger, too.

All listed above will do the job.

We're it me, I'd get the ruger American with a threaded barrel in 22-250. Keep in mind that most factory 250's have a slow twist of 12 or even 14 which prevents the use of heavy bullets. If you're looking to shoot heavies then the 243 would be the better route.

30-30. Ballistics are flat to 175 yards. Has enough knock down for big game, doesn't kick much, guns look cool

Ruger American Predator has a 1:10 barrel. I just ordered one from Buds to use as a cheap truck gun.

If we are talking about predators in Texas 22-250 or 243 has my vote. Predators in say Montana or Alaska would be a whole other matter obviously.
