I only saw it done once when working at a rural full service station when I was in high school

Tractor tire was giving a couple of older boys a fit trying to get it to air up (tubeless I guess)
They sprayed it with started fluid and when it hit the ground one of them was on it like a monkey with the air hose to keep it from losing the seat

Decided that was not the method for me

Also had a cage for airing up 18wheeler tires with "split rings"
It was all beat to hell and bent up, passed on messing with thoise too

      No offense
Worked 30+ years out in the middle of nowhere seen it done some times daily , sounds like a boss man or osha guy with lots of extra time and money to waste
I never had 2-4 extra hours for driving to town and back and forget it on a Sunday or holiday
And it’s kinda hard to re seat a tire in the field after a plug job even if you happen to have a tire machine back in a barn
Yes a little dangerous but then so is filling tires up with propane out of our LPG tank

Rachet strap has usually worked for me in most cases

I've done it a few times with starter fluid. It doesn't take much. You have to be quick with the air hose . The tire will lose pressure quick as it cools..

I second and recommend this approach.

Another vote for the ratchet strap method. Works very well and you don't have to set anything on fire.
