    Congrats! I know it's a scary thing but no risk, no reward! My father-n-law was in almost your exact shoes and situation when he left Baker Hughes 30 years ago and his current bank account and lifestyle sure thanks him. You'll be fine..

                  Best of luck to you. I went on my own several years back. Folks thought I was nuts and mocked and badmouthed me when I left. Not terribly long after that, the same bunch all lost their jobs when the company sold out.

                          I stopped working for wages in 1989. Scared as hell but it turned out to be the best thing I ever did. Just keep your nose to the grindstone and pay off everything you can as you can. Believe me, it's a good feeling to wake up one morning and know everything you own is paid for.
