I'm not sure why democrats had such high hopes. These districts have been solidly republican for years (gingrich held that georgia seat for a heck of a long time), and the reps that left them to take appointments were chosen in part because the districts were considered easy wins.

What is amazing to me is that more people don't seam to care how much this "big money" influences elections. Yes this one did not turn out in favor of the "big money", but how many do?? Why should companies or mega millionaires have way more influence than an ordinary hard working citizen?? There should be a limit to how much a politician should be allowed to spend on an election.

Same here! This money game is total BS but was approved a few administrations ago.........so it goes both ways. This time the people of the district truly made the choice, not outside influencer's. Good for them!
