Oh he has been hooked! We used to hunt in Hebbronville and last year he shot his first deer, a cull that scored about 80 inches and he was pumped about that! He is still flying high today. My other son had shot one with 32" main beams years ago and we got a euro done, so I am doing a 3 piece rustic euro. Didn't want my other son to say "you didn't do a shoulder mount on my first one!" Haha

Congrats to your son . A beautiful trophy , will make a beautiful mount if you go that route , and some excellent tasting meat for the table at home .

Great Axis. I killed one a week ago and I am still jealous of your son. He did good!

Thanks everyone! Mudslinger I saw your post and yours is awesome!!!!!!! Congrats! Yes, we hunt hard for axis. We seriously walked 15 miles in 2 days and rarely ever sit in a blind hunting for axis. No corn and no blind for this one. My favorite kind of hunting! I am trying to let my other son shoot a WT buck this season if we can find one old enough. That leaves nothing for me, but I have shot some nice critters, and it's way more fun and heart warming when they do. I think I feel more excited than they do! Great memories!

I had it scored by an official ROE scorer - Gold Medal! 138 7/8
