To all African experts:

When is the best time to purchase tickets to South Africa? I just sent in my deposit for my first trip and now need to purchase airline tickets. Tickets fluctuate so much that I want to know when it is best. The trip will be mid-August.

You can book your flight up to 330 days in advance

July and august will be the most expensive months to fly because of the tourist season

You should budget $1800 ~ $2200 for your ticket

some of the webpages will let you set up alerts. I have one on travelocity I think... but if the fare's for a specific trip that i've put in drop more than X% then it sends you an alert and you can snatch it up.
